The Vancouver Plan- what is it?

The Vancouver Plan is a long-term strategy to support growth to 2050 and beyond. It is Vancouver’s first unified city-wide plan to create a more livable, affordable and sustainable city.

The draft Plan proposes to:

  • Identify where future growth and change will take place over the long-term
  • Add more housing options to all areas of the city, including townhouse and multiplexes (also known as Missing Middle housing), and rental housing
  • Build our neighbourhoods around people by making them more complete and connected, enabling more people to walk/roll for access to daily needs and amenities
  • Make our city more climate resilient by restoring ecosystems and protecting our green space and tree canopy
  • Support businesses of all sizes and protect industrial areas, creating more opportunities for new shops, services, and home based businesses throughout the city
  • Advance Reconciliation with the Nations and urban Indigenous Peoples with continued consultation and collaboration in plan implementation

A High-density, mixed-use redevelopment is proposed just next to The Amazing Brentwood.

The City of Burnaby has outlined an early concept for Brentwood West; 4 towers on a 3.27-acre site at the northwest corner of Lougheed and Willingdon with potentially a combined total of 1,400 condos, both market rental, and non-market rental homes, plus over 600,000 sq ft of office, retail, and restaurant space.

My donation drive was a huge success!

So rewarding!!! I matched donations in a donation drive this December and it was a massive success.

I matched many donations with the largest one being $1000. It helped bring a refugee family to Canada through The Rainbow Refugee Council. It is an organization whose mission is to promote safe equitable migration and communities of belonging for people fleeing Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and HIV+ persecution.

The specific Group was New Beginnings through Share Society, a settlement-focused parenting program for refugee families with children from birth to ages six.

This was the first time I sponsored a refugee family, and I was so happy to contribute to bringing a family to safety.

FINALLY!!! Breaking news!

The Burnaby City Council has approved a program that will introduce laneway homes and secondary suites in duplexes.

Step one of Burnaby’s Housing and Homelessness Strategy a 10 year strategic plan called HOME, is to address the housing crises by adding inventory.

No schedule of how this will roll out yet, but more information is coming soon.
